Grading Policy:
1. Students will earn and accumulate points throughout the grading period (semester). These points will come from different ways (see below).
2. Grades will be weighted as follows: Summative Assessment Grades (chapter tests, projects, and final exams) will account for 70% of the final grade while Formative Assessment Grades (daily assignments, homework, labs and quizzes) will account for the remaining 30%. What does that mean for my child? They need to do their daily work, and do their own daily work to do well on the tests, which will account for the majority of their grade. This is in direct alignment with the new ECSD grading policy.
3. The results of the formative assessments will be used to modify and validate instruction and allow students to monitor their progress. Not all formative assessments will be a recorded grade. That is, not all assignments will be graded.
4. LATE WORK WILL BE ACCEPTED. I do accept late work. However, it is only accepted up to that chapter’s test.
5. One thing I would like to stress is that I give your child every opportunity to pass math and reduce math “phobia”. I accept late work. I am also available for assistance on math assignments each morning at 7:00 AM and afterschool until 2:45 PM (excluding when I am called to a meeting). I am unavailable on Wednesday afternoons, due to our PLC time.
